Highways in Connecticut

Many DUI arrests in Connecticut occur on the following roads:

Interstate 95: This was commonly known as the Connecticut Turnpike. It starts in Fairfield County and is one of the most heavily traveled roads in the United States. It runs through towns like Greenwich, Stamford, Bridgeport, New Haven, Branford, Waterford, New London, Groton (Submarine Base), Mystic, North Stonington all the way to the Rhode Island line. This Interstate is used by many people traveling throughout New England and to the Connecticut Casinos—Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun.

Connecticut HighwaysInterstate 395: This branches off of Interstate 95 at Waterford and New London and runs through Montville, Norwich, Lisbon, Plainfield, Danielson/Killingly, Putnam and Thompson to the Massachusetts line. This Interstate is also used by many people traveling throughout New England and to the Connecticut Casinos—Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun.

State Route 2: This road begins outside of Hartford in East Hartford and runs through Glastonbury, Marlborough, Colchester, Lebanon, Norwich, Preston, Ledyard, Nortth Stonington and Pawcatuck. It is a direct Route to the Foxwoods Casino and also connects with Interstate 95. In Norwich, this Route Connects with Interstate 395.

Interstate 384: This Interstate branches off of Interstate 84 North of Hartford and runs through East Hartford, Manchester and Bolton. It connects you to Route 6, which runs East to Willimantic, Danielson and into Providence, Rhode Island. It also connects you to Route 44, which takes you to Storrs, Connecticut (in the town of Mansfield), which is where the main campus of the University of Connecticut is located. Route 44 continues on through Mansfield, Ashford, Eastford, Pomfret, Putnam and all the way to the Rhode Island line.

Interstate 84: This Interstate runs east and west through Connecticut. It runs through towns such as Danbury, Waterbury, Sudbury, Farmington, West Hartford, Hartford, East Hartford, Tolland, and Willington. At one end it runs to the Massachusetts line, near Sturbridge and at the other end, to the New York state line, near Bedford. It also intersects with Interstate 91 in Hartford.

Interstate 91: This runs north and south and through towns like Enfield, Windsor, South Windsor, Hartford, Wethersfield, Middletown, Rocky Hill and New Haven. In the north, it runs to the Massachusetts line.

Route 9: This runs east and west through towns like Old Saybrook, Middletown and New Britain. It intersects with Interstate 95, in the east, and Interstate 84 in the center of the state, in Middletown. It runs adjacent to the Connecticut River.

Route 6: This road is an interior road running east and west and runs through towns like Manchester, Bolton, Andover, Willimantic, Chaplin, Hampton, Brooklyn, Danielson/Killingly and into Rhode Island.
